Labs

The agency

A web, mobile and AI agency, run hands-on.

Bx Labs designs, builds and ships websites, mobile apps and AI-based systems. An independent agency based in Paris, and a studio that publishes software of its own. You talk to the person who designs and writes the code, from the first scoping call through to production.

What Bx Labs is

Bx Labs is an independent web, mobile and AI agency. Independent means two precise things: nobody else owns the capital, and none of our recommendations is paid for by a vendor, a hosting provider or an ad network. When we propose a technology, it is because it solves your problem.

It is also a product studio: we publish our own software, held to the same production constraints as the projects we run for clients. That changes how we work for them. A studio that operates its own services knows the real cost of being on call, of a database migration, or of a dependency someone abandoned; it takes that into account while choosing, not afterwards.

We work with companies that have no in-house technical team, and with companies that do and want reinforcement on one specific piece of work. In both cases the rule is the same: what we deliver has to be able to live without us.

What we do

The four services often combine on the same project: the site brings the enquiries in, the mobile app serves the repeated uses, AI and business software absorb the manual work that is left, and video feeds what draws people in. Each has its own page, with its own process and deliverables.

How we work

  1. Scope

A call, your tools, what is costing you time. We write down what the project has to change and how we will know it worked: a success criterion set out in writing, not a general intention. It is also the moment we say whether a piece of work looks badly framed, or beyond us.

  2. Design

Flows, content, data model and architecture, before the first line of interface code. Designing costs a few days; getting the foundations wrong costs the whole project. You sign off on that scope, and it is the reference for everything that follows.

  3. Build

A first scope in production within weeks, wired to your real data — not a clickable mock-up. You follow progress on an environment you can reach, and you can react while a change is still cheap.

  4. Operate

Release, measurement, fixes, changes. The system stays watched after go-live, because that is where the cases nobody anticipated show up. The source code is handed over in full, documentation included.

What we commit to

  • The source code is yours

Every line of code we write is handed over, in your repository, with installation and deployment instructions. Nothing is held back as leverage.

  • One contact, who designs and writes the code

The person who answers you is the person writing the software. No requirement degrades as it changes hands, and no promise is made by someone who will not have to keep it.

  • A reply within 24 working hours

Every written request gets an answer within 24 working hours, in English or in French — including when that answer is “no” or “not now”.

  • A capped number of engagements in parallel

We turn work down rather than dilute it. That is the only way to honour the two commitments above instead of merely displaying them.

  • No sales intermediary

No commission, no licence resale, no partnership steering a recommendation. What we advise, we would have chosen for ourselves.

What we do not do

A promise that depends on a search engine, a certification body or an app store is not ours to make: so we do not sell it. Here is what you will not find in our proposals.

  • We do not guarantee first place

Nobody controls a search engine’s ranking, and whoever guarantees it is selling a result they do not control. We commit to the work: a technically sound site, pages that answer a real intent, and measurements you can read yourself.

  • We issue no certification and no compliance attestation

We apply the rules we know — accessibility, data protection, basic security — and we tell you where the project stands. An official audit, a label or an attestation is the business of accredited bodies, and we are not one.

  • We do not start a project without a written success criterion

A project whose success was never defined always ends in a disagreement about what should have been delivered. If we cannot write down together what has to change, we would rather not begin.

  • We do not sell a demo as a production system

A mock-up that survives ten minutes in front of a committee is not software: between the two lie the edge cases, error recovery, access rights, backups and monitoring. We always say which side of that line the thing in front of you sits on.

  • We do not build on a stack nobody could take over

We stay with widespread, documented technologies, so that another supplier or your own developers can pick the project up. A less common choice is sometimes justified: it is then explained, written down and owned, never merely inherited.

Frequently asked questions

Are you an agency or a freelancer?

Bx Labs is a company, and the company is what contracts. It is currently run by one senior technical founder, alone: you get the commitment of a registered structure and the single point of contact of a freelancer. We write that down rather than let an agency page suggest a team.

Do you work remotely?

Yes, anywhere in France. Exchanges happen over video and in writing, with a written record after every significant decision; an on-site meeting is still possible when the subject warrants it. The quality of the follow-up does not depend on distance, it depends on what is written down.

What happens if we want to take development back in-house?

That is planned for from day one. The source code is handed over in full, with installation, deployment and operations documentation, and the accounts for the services used are in your name. We run the handover with whoever is taking it on, and we stay reachable for occasional questions afterwards.

How does an engagement start?

With an email describing your situation, the tool involved and the deadline that matters to you. We answer within 24 working hours, then we talk it through. If the project makes sense on both sides, you receive a written proposal: scope, success criterion, plan. Nothing starts before that document is agreed.
